About Me

Understanding Real Estate Issues About a year ago, I began thinking about unloading my existing property and getting a new house. Unfortunately, I wasn't really sure where to start, so I turned to a friend of mine who specialized in real estate. They walked me through the entire process of selling a house and investing in a new one, and I was really impressed with how much of a difference they made in my process. I began working hard to get things taken care of, and within a few months I was able to completely transform my finances with the sale of my home.

4 Features Of Ranch Homes That Make Them Ideal For Families With Young Children

If you have children or are planning to have children in the near future, a ranch home should be on your list of home styles to look into. Many people think of the classic ranch homes as simply single-story homes. However, there are several more features to this style of architecture that all support safe, harmonious family living. Below are some of the reasons parents tend to opt for ranch homes.

No Stairs

The most common reason parents want a ranch home is the lack of stairs. Stairs create a safety hazard for small children and even rambunctious pre-teens. Having everything on one level means you're always on the same floor as your children, and you don't have to worry about an accidental tumble down the stairs.

However, you should keep in mind that some ranch homes, known as raised ranches, still have stairs to get to the main living level and the basement.

Fusing of Indoor and Outdoor Space

Ranch homes tend to feature large patios, large overhangs, and large sliding glass doors. All of this works together to extend your living space into your yard and give you easy access to it. This can be a great way to make sure your children get plenty of time outdoors. Even when the weather is rainy, your children can play under the large overhangs on the patio, and if you're busy inside, you will be able to keep an eye on your children in the back yard.

Open Floor Plans

Most ranches feature open floor plans with a combined living, dining, and cooking area. This is ideal when you need to finish making a meal but want to keep an eye on your children. It also allows for several different activities, such as playing, reading, and using the computer, to all happen within sight of each other, increasing safety and family connection.

Separate Living and Sleeping Areas

Usually the sleeping area is in one wing of a ranch while the living area is in another section. This separation can allow you to put younger children down for naps while older children play. It can also allow you to stay up in the living room or kitchen while your children are sleeping without fear of waking them up. This structural separation can increase your family's sleep and maintain harmony.

Ranch homes are ideal homes for families with children, not just because they are single-story homes, but because they offer opportunities for interaction and privacy, while emphasizing play and safety.  Contact a real estate agent to find ranch homes for sale in your area.
