This is where an area's walkability score comes in. This score tells you how easy it is to access stores and services on foot. The higher the score, the less you'll need a vehicle to complete your errands. For example, you don't need a vehicle at all in a neighborhood with a 90 walk score.

You can look up the walk score of any address by visiting the Walk Score website. However, many real estate listing sites have begun providing walk scores and a real estate agent can also provide insight about how easy it is to get around on foot in a particular area.

If you still prefer a place where the walkability score is low, though, be sure the area is serviced by either public transportation or rideshare companies, such as Lyft.

Many studies have been done on the effects of isolation and loneliness and researchers found it can increase a person's risk of death and cognitive decline. Isolated people are also more likely to suffer physical health problems.

Social interaction is necessary to remain as healthy as possible. Thus, it's best for your mental and physical health to purchase a home in an area where there are a lot of opportunities for socialization. For instance, you may want to move into a condo located near a downtown area, since condos often have community get-togethers where residents can interact and downtown areas tend to have lots of entertainment events.
